Hello, Iām Seth
I work with gel medium transfer in a geometric structure, and, though some of the found collage elements may be recognizable, the overall effect is abstract. My subconscious promptings are more important than any preconception about the design. Though I work intuitively, the work is also methodical and well considered as one layer is placed in response to the prior layer...a kind of intuitive discourse.
This work is the result of over ten years of valuable experience with print making and experimentation. Some historical influences include artists such as Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Frank Stella, Robert Rauschenberg, and Marcel Duchamp, among others. I am open to inspiration from the environment and even the mundane that I internalize and reconfigure to make new aesthetic connections. For me process is paramount...from distilling elements that I am influenced by and all the way through the process of making. I do not attach any dogmatic story line or content: the aesthetics of the work speak for itself and is the content.
I do derive both challenge and pleasure in creating this artwork, but the viewer completes the work. I want to create work that is emotive and one where the viewer can experience and interpret it in their own way.
